About FONTEC

Specialists in intensive mixers for foundries

FONTEC S.r.l. was established in 1985, when Fenwick S.p.A., builder since 1956 of Speedmullor mixers under licence from Beardsley & Piper of Chicago, went into liquidation. An engineering team with long Fenwick experience bought the manufacturing drawings, patterns, fixtures, tools and the whole commercial and technical documentation.

Since then FONTEC has supplied hundreds of customers with original spare parts and new Speedmullor and AER-A-MIX mixers.

Batch capacity, hourly capacity and cycle times are approximate and depend upon sand formulation, degree of cooling desired and installation of moisture or compactability controller operating in real time.

Technology

AER-A-MIX and pneumatic additive injection

AER-A-MIX modifies the mulling principle of the Speedmullor: intensive aerators action takes the place of the mulling wheels. Existing Speedmullors in operation can be converted in the field by incorporating the aerators.

Pneumatic additive injection (I.P.A.) feeds the additives at low pressure, 1 to 1.5 bar, directly into the sand while it is being mixed. The first system dates from 1979 and since then over a hundred systems have been running on various Speedmullor and AER-A-MIX models.

Spare parts and service

Original spare parts and gearbox overhauling

A mixer stays reliable when it is properly maintained and its spare parts match the original design. FONTEC holds the original Fenwick manufacturing drawings, patterns and tooling.

History

From Fenwick to FONTEC

1956

Fenwick S.p.A. starts building Speedmullor mixers and other foundry equipment under licence from Beardsley & Piper of Chicago.

1979

The first pneumatic additive injection system (I.P.A.) is built, covered by patent no. 1,129,638 in force until 1999.

1985

Fenwick S.p.A. goes into liquidation. Engineers with long Fenwick experience buy drawings, patterns, tooling and technical-commercial documentation and found FONTEC S.r.l.
